Quick start

You need Docker, JDK 21 and uv (for the Python parts). From the repository root:

docker compose up -d                      # the message broker and PostgreSQL
ADI_SEED_DEMO=true ./gradlew :backend:run # the server on :8080; the seed creates the demo ward on an empty database
./gradlew :composeApp:run                 # the nurse station (control room PIN 1234)

Then start the simulated ward (see Running a demo) and approve its sensors in the control room.

The Android app

./gradlew :androidApp:assembleDebug
adb install androidApp/build/outputs/apk/debug/androidApp-debug.apk

On the Android emulator the app connects to the laptop by itself (http://10.0.2.2:8080). On a real phone, set the laptop’s address under Control room → Settings → Connection.

Checks

One build, one running server

Do not build in the same folder a running server was started from: the build replaces its classes underneath it. Build in a separate git worktree, or restart the server afterwards.
